PEI Snow Loads & Coastal Conditions
Prince Edward Island has high snow loads for its size. Ground snow loads are about 2.7 kPa in Charlottetown and Souris, 3.1 kPa in Summerside and 3.2 kPa in Tignish, plus a rain-on-snow load of about 0.6 kPa.
Coastal sites add salt spray, humidity and strong storms. Panel coatings, fasteners, trims and door hardware should be chosen for salt exposure. Read about corrosion protection.
