Foundations, Insulation and Loading
Once the footprint is set, three choices decide how the warehouse performs: what it sits on, how it holds temperature, and how goods move in and out.
Foundations
The foundation is coordinated with the building’s column reactions, your operating loads and site conditions:
- Reinforced slab-on-grade, the usual choice for forklifts and heavy racking
- Pier and footing systems where soil varies across a large site
- Frost-wall foundations where frost lines run deep
Insulation
Pick the system for how the space is used:
- Fibreglass batts for economical, moderate energy control
- Rigid foam panels for higher R-values and temperature-controlled space
- Insulated metal panels for cold storage
- Vapour barriers to stop condensation and protect stored goods
Loading and layout
