Hamilton’s design snow load depends on where you build. The Ontario Building Code uses 1.1 kPa below the escarpment but 1.5 kPa above it, west of the airport, about 36% more. A building priced for a lower-city lot is not automatically right for a property on the Mountain or in rural Glanbrook.
